Play.fm – Great mixes to share - May 18, 2009
I love Spotify as a service for finding new music and reconnecting with old favorites, but now I have a new love. I used to run a company that threw raves, and other parties. Mixed music was a part of my life for a good 7 years or so, and while I no longer go clubbing I love the music. Play.fm, is my new favorite music service because of this. DJ’s can post sets to the site, and I can stream them. All genres and all talent levels. Plus I can embed stuff like you see below to share with you. Right now I’m digging on the downtempo set called “A Short Trip”. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Colorful – Cars - May 17, 2009

Had a chance to visit the Portabella Road Market on our last day in London. Realized that I really miss living with diversity around me. So many smells, foods from strange places, mixes of old and new, London is pretty magical, no matter how much people complain about the rain. Can’t wait to get back, my to do/to see list is growing as I write this. Plus I think I need a pint of bitters.

A week without equal - May 15, 2009
This week as changed the playing field. After 5 yrs of hard work, trying to figure out what we are doing here, I feel like it’s starting to make sense. The London International Wine Fair turned out to be a chance for us to both learn about what we actually know and to share that knowledge with others. Dinner with the Circle of Wine Writers where we were welcomed with open arms, and a glass of wine with Jancis Robinson. Both surreal, exciting, and full of future possibilities.
Life is good. More soon…
In London for 8 days - May 9, 2009
The past few weeks have been a blur. First I was in Madrid and at FENAVIN, and then after a quick night or two in Terrassa, I’m back in London for the London International Wine Fair. This trip includes a dinner the night before the fair with the Circle of Wine Writers, a group that includes Steven Spurrier, Jancis Robinson, Oz Clarke, Charles Metcalf, and many more “names”. The odd part is we’re there as “equals” if you will. In no way am I saying we’re as important in the wine world, yet, but we are writers, who do our best to educate others. Hopefully with some good results.
And while we don’t agree with them all the time, we do appreciate what they have done and who they are, and it will be an honor to have the chance to hang out with them.
We’ll be having dinner at a restuarant here in London and all I have to say is that I would not want to be the sommelier on duty that night!
Cheers,
Ryan Opaz

Hay Fever Sucks. Make it go away now. - May 3, 2009
I’ve been blessed. I’m 34 and I haven’t had allergies to food, or animals so far though I think this year my luck ran out. Lately I’ve been exhausted, with occasional runny nose, achy(super) body parts, and fatigue. I mentioned this to a friend and he told me it sounds like Hay Fever. I don’t get hay fever. My parents don’t get hay fever. I’m not supposed to get hay fever! Not impressed. This is seriously a pain in the butt, leading to me almost passing out from being so tired I can’t stay awake. I’ve taken to drinking more coffee than normal. I’m not happy.
Found some pills that help a little to mitigate the problem, but I’m still not happy. How long does this last? Anyone else have hay fever come on later in life? Does this mean I’ll always have it now? Or can it disappear again? Please!
